Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

How should I prepare for my first appointment?

Come with clean skin if possible, and avoid exfoliating or using active ingredients (like retinol or AHAs) 48 hours prior. Bring a list of current skincare products so we can review them together.

Do you offer treatments for men?

Yes! All treatments are gender-inclusive and tailored to individual skin needs. Men's services focus on deep cleansing, ingrown hair prevention, and hydration.

Are your treatments safe during pregnancy?

Yes—many of our services are pregnancy-safe! I avoid harsh chemicals and use gentle, nourishing products. Just let me know if you're expecting so I can tailor everything to your comfort and safety.

How do I know which facial or treatment is best for me?

That’s what I’m here for! During your consultation, I assess your skin type, concerns, and goals to recommend the most effective and safe treatment plan tailored just for you.

Skin Care Services

Are your products safe for sensitive skin?

Absolutely! I customize all treatments based on your skin type. For sensitive skin, I use gentle, fragrance-free, and dermatologist-tested products to soothe and protect your barrier.

How often should I get a facial?

For most skin types, a facial every 4 to 6 weeks is ideal. This aligns with your skin’s natural regeneration cycle and helps maintain clear, balanced, and glowing skin. If you're treating a specific issue like acne or hyperpigmentation, we may recommend more frequent visits temporarily.

Will I break out after a facial?

It’s possible to experience mild purging, especially if you’re new to professional treatments. This is your skin releasing trapped impurities. It typically subsides within a few days and is a normal part of the detox process.

What’s the best treatment for acne or acne scars?

For active acne, I recommend deep-cleansing facials, LED light therapy, or enzyme treatments. For acne scars, chemical peels, microneedling, or advanced exfoliation treatments may be most effective. A consultation helps us create a personalized plan for you.

Can I wear makeup after my facial?

Answer:
It’s best to avoid makeup for 24 hours to let your skin breathe and absorb all the benefits of your treatment. If needed, a light, mineral-based foundation is safest.

Is dermaplaning safe? Will my hair grow back thicker?

Dermaplaning is completely safe when done by a trained professional. It removes dead skin and fine vellus hair (“peach fuzz”). Hair does not grow back thicker—it may feel blunt at first, but texture and color remain the same.

What’s the difference between a facial and a chemical peel?

A facial is a non-invasive treatment that focuses on cleansing, exfoliating, and hydrating the skin. A chemical peel uses a solution to exfoliate deeper layers, helping treat issues like acne, pigmentation, or fine lines. Facials are great for regular maintenance; peels are better for targeted results.

Is microneedling painful?

Most clients describe microneedling as mildly uncomfortable, not painful. I apply a topical numbing cream beforehand to minimize any discomfort. Afterward, you may feel like you have a mild sunburn for 24–48 hours.

What is LED light therapy and how does it work?

LED therapy uses safe, low-level light to stimulate skin healing and collagen production. Blue light targets acne-causing bacteria, red light reduces inflammation and boosts collagen, and near-infrared light promotes deep healing.

Can you help with hyperpigmentation or dark spots?

Yes, absolutely. Treatments like brightening facials, enzyme exfoliation, chemical peels, and microneedling can help reduce dark spots over time. Consistent home care and sun protection are key to success.

Waxing

How long does my hair need to be for waxing?

Hair should be at least ¼ inch long—about the size of a grain of rice—to ensure the wax can grip it properly. If it's too short, the wax may not be effective. Wait at least 2–3 weeks after shaving before booking your waxing appointment for best results.

Does waxing hurt?

Waxing involves quick hair removal from the root, so some discomfort is normal—especially if it's your first time. That said, the pain is brief, and it becomes more tolerable with regular waxing as your hair becomes finer. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, or working out right before your appointment—they can make your skin more sensitive. Take an ibuprofen 30 minutes before if you're concerned about pain.

How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?

Arrive with clean, dry skin—no lotions or oils. Gently exfoliate 24 hours before to remove dead skin and prevent ingrown hairs. Skip tanning, intense exfoliation, or using retinoids on the area for 48 hours before waxing to avoid irritation.

Can I get waxed during my period?

Yes, you can—but your skin may be more sensitive due to hormonal changes. Wear a tampon or menstrual cup, and let your aesthetician know so they can be extra gentle. If you're sensitive, consider booking your appointment the week after your period when your pain tolerance is naturally higher.

How long will my waxing results last?

You can expect smooth skin for about 3–6 weeks, depending on your personal hair growth cycle. With regular waxing, your hair may grow back finer and slower over time. Stay consistent—wax every 4–5 weeks to stay ahead of the growth cycle and minimize discomfort.

Will waxing cause ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hairs can happen, especially on coarse or curly hair types. Regular exfoliation and moisturizing are key to preventing them. Use a gentle scrub or exfoliating mitt 2–3 times per week and apply an ingrown hair serum or soothing oil after waxing.

Is it okay to wax if I have sensitive skin?

Yes! I offer waxes formulated for sensitive skin and use proper techniques to minimize irritation. Just let me know beforehand so I can choose the right products. Avoid heat, tight clothing, and fragranced lotions on the waxed area for 24–48 hours to reduce sensitivity.

What’s the difference between a bikini, Brazilian, and full bikini wax?
  • Bikini Wax: Removes hair outside the panty line.

  • Full Bikini Wax: Removes more hair along the sides and top, but leaves some.

  • Brazilian Wax: Removes all hair front to back (or leaves a small strip if requested).

Don’t be shy—ask questions before your appointment so you know exactly what to expect and can choose what’s most comfortable for you.

Can I shave between waxing appointments?

It’s not recommended. Shaving disrupts your hair growth cycle and can make your next wax more painful and less effective. If you’re between appointments and feel tempted to shave, exfoliate and moisturize instead to keep skin smooth until your next wax.

Are there any aftercare steps I should follow?

Yes! After waxing, avoid hot showers, sun exposure, sweating, saunas, and tight clothing for at least 24 hours. Keep the area clean, moisturized, and exfoliate gently after a few days. Use a soothing post-wax lotion with aloe or chamomile and avoid touching the area to prevent bacteria and breakouts.
